Stripping paint from alloy wheels is big business these days. In the past the favourite way of doing this was either shot blasting – expensive, or using nasty solvent based and highly acidic paint strippers – very dangerous to use and really upsets the Health and Safety people.
Well now there is a nice safe and effective way of stripping paint from alloy wheels which won’t burn your fingers off or upset the Health and Safety people – Biostrip. This is a user and eco friendly product which is very effective at stripping a wide variety of paints and laquers from alloy wheels. The process is simplicity itself. Just immerse the wheel in the biostrip for anything from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on how many coats of paint are on the wheel. The biostrip will remove the paint in sheets. Once the biostrip has done its job, just rinse the wheel, dry it and it is ready for repainting.
Below is a picture of an alloy wheel that has been half immersed in biostrip to give you some idea of what to look for when stripping alloy wheels. You can see that the biostrip has removed the paint nicely from the bit of the wheel that has been immersed in the product.
